EPIK (English Program In Korea) Spring 2011 applicant must be aware of new EPIK application regulations (policy).

1. Level 3 or Level H (EPIK-Seoul) is not recommendable for applying EPIK application.

TESOL certificate (at least 100 hours) must be completed before 20th January 2012 for non-teaching experience teachers and EPIK recommend experienced teacher to obtain TESOL certificate for better salary level.

2. Additional interview and Lesson plan for Busan applicants.

You can select three location preference on EPIK application and if you have Busan for one of three preferences, you must fill out Busan lesson plan (minimum 2 pages). Also EPIK-Seoul applicant must provide a lesson plan.
Busan education board can contact you directly for additional interview when they feel it is necessary. Please note that you might be need to have an additional interview after submitting original documents for document screening process.

*For Incheon : Security deposit form (when you submit original documents)

*For Seoul : SMOE attachment + Lesson plan (when you submit initial application for arranging EPIK interview) / SMOE addendum (when you will submit original documents for document screening process)

3.Criminal Background check validation policy

EPIK will only accept criminal record check which issued after 26th August 2011). Please make sure that you will send original copy of apostilized criminal background check. (For example USA=FBI only / Canada=RCMP)

*EPIK will accept earlier issued CRC for initial process but you must submit extra updated criminal background check no later than 20th January 2012).

*Failure of submitting updated CRC could lead you a cancellation of final acceptance from office of education.

4.BA diploma (expected fresh graduates)

Prior policy for submitting letter from university after final exam result will not acceptable anymore if you will recieve your original copy of BA diploma later than expected arrival date. (middle of FEB 2012 is expected arrival date). EPIK suggest you to apply for next semester if you are not sure with your BA diploma issuance date.

5. Entry allowance (Flight reimbursement) in Korea applicants only

EPIK will no longer provide entry allowance 1.3M KRW for current E2 visa holder. This includes teachers who will transfer and extend visa from a hagwon or public schools.

*If you have returned to home country after completing a contract will have entry allowance.

6.Location preference (first come first serves based recruiting)

5 designated preference location reduce to 3 three location. Due to high volume of competition EPIK want candidate become more flexible as any metropolitan city or regular provinces in case you will be in a early bird group.

*You can choose three location of preference and after document screening process EPIK will recommend you to each education board according to your preferences. Flexible on location will help them to recommend you to other cities when 3 preferences filled out.

7.E2 visa application at Korean Consulate

Please apply your E2 visa at nearest Korean consulate in your home country in order to avoid delay or denial on E2 visa application.

8.Deadline for additional document submission

EPIK will only accept additional requested documents by middle of January. Please make sure you will complete your TESOL certificate no later than January (your TESOL certificate issuance takes few days or weeks). Also BA diploma and other additional documents need to be considered for this deadline.
